Do you have a Flag?

Do you have a Flag? What you mean that burning pile of scrap used to be a flag well in that case it looks like you don't have one and this territory is ours.

When considering Necromunda objectives I wanted something that my opponents could thematically set fire too and so my 'Relic' for my Chaos gang is a flag. And nothing shows your own it more than a flag, I mean ask Eddie Izzard, it was how Britain ruled the world.

This was amongst the very few things I actually painted however it was not alone meet Immeral Thamynn my latest DND character.

Hes a warlock of the deep and how can you be bound to a primordial god of deep sea beasts without a tentacle, I got this printed originally as my beast lair marker for Necromunda but when making a new character this was too good to miss out on.

There are a few other pieces thats have been progressed but my big nids lost alot of steam when I found my pot of white paint that I cover them in before the wash had dried and I couldn't paint them if I wanted to. I now have some white paint but its not the same one as GW discontinued the one I was using, hopefully it doesnt change the end colours to much. More on this to come.

On a side note as of Monday Aotearoa New Zealand is officially COVID-19 free, with no active or new cases. Yes, We did that. Life can finally take a turn towards 'normality'. To celebrate here is a DND Character I painted for a friend taken at our first session in level 1.

#freetheflamer

The Whole Crew including the now deceased Worm

Vorne had sent word for the crew to meet at the depot and to cover their faces and keep any signets hidden. The job was well paying but the cult would not likely be received well by the guilders so it was best to be safe. The truck they were escorting had the meanest looking roller on the front, nothing was going to slow it down and 2 heavy stubbers bound together on top of the cab. Sadly the guilders had locked themselves into the cab and closed the hatch so the guns were unusuable. Something about making sure the most precious of cargo was safe. Vorne had Sible and Sable flank the ride and asked the driver to go at a steady pace so that they could keep up. It wasn't till the old office district long since abandoned from when the Administratum had a presence in the underhive that Sible just stopped walking.

Vorne the Crazed and her Pet Cuddles

Vorne called out questioning why he had stopped and he merely dropped his bandana revealing he was not actually Sible. Enraged Vorne stepped forward only to see cuddles lift into the air eyes glowing. Vorne cursed before her world was suddenly flipped into a cascade of colours. When she returned all but Reek and Riegar had been left as barely recognisable corpses, the pipe bomb had caught them all off guard. Vorne lept from the truck conscious of how precious 'Hates' promethium is at the moment she chose to rev up 'Death' before barreling down at the attacker. Death certainly lived up to its name sake as blood began pooling at her feet.

Sible, Shift, Sable and Riegar

Riegar enraged at the traitor cared not for how low his promethium tank was he was sure to make them pay. In the near permanent dusk of the underhive he turned the traitor into a living beacon for all to see. As they collapsed to the ground Sable ran up and drove his bayonet through the back of their neck to ensure the job was done. He just hoped his brother was okay if this traitor had taken his place.

Reek and Razzle

Looking up from corpse at her feet Vorne could see the Dustmen flooding from behind the buildings and scattered containers, bracing herself as one bearing a shotgun rounded the corner and let lose. Cuddles started to rise eyes glowing once again but before her world flipped inside out again he scattered into the wind amongst the oncoming shrapnel. Vorne was not spared from the blast either, falling to her knees blood coming from a wound under her plate. Looking up to Reek for help she instead saw him pick up one of the containers they were meant to protect and lift his mask. Yet another traitor was revealed. Cursing her ignorance and feeling so naive Vorne called for everyone still able to move to run and prayed to her Dark Gods that they would all make it out.

Opponents Left, Mine Right - Intrigues adding Flavour

Our new Necromunda campaign started at the beginning of Feb. Down the Rabbit Hole Part 2. I had played 2 or 3 games in the last campaign but didn't really give it much love and it was more about learning about the game. I did however write some short stories for those and might post some later on to recap my experience of Part of the Journey. Once nice touch however is that because a Chaos Cult won the last campaign they are being used as an NPC gang almost like a Drug cartel, they have a higher rating and lots of gear and skills. You can challenge them but I think they might also get used in Arbirating the lawful gangs. On the flipside hearing the news of Chaos in the Underhive, Sisters of Battle have arrived and will be treated as an arbitrating tool against any Outlaw gangs who gets too far ahead of themselves.

Shysaleeeshka, my summoned "Bounty Hunter"
I had my first game of the campaign on the 3rd. The Arbitrator suggested we started with something narrative and fun to get into it, so me and my opponent played the Caravan heist. I was defending and my opponent was attacking. I got the old ork battlewagon out and gave it a good coat of agrax earthshade as I since learned over the years is that washing my models was not something to fear. Sufficiently grimy and thankfully didn't have any orks modeled on. The opening story is based on that game and the outcome was very clear. The intrigue cards coupled with his opening overseer action left me unable to compete. Lessons learned is that a good looking and thematic set up was not always the best tactical option.

Not great but good enough

I wasn't the only one who suffered heavy losses that day. Another player barely got out with any crew that would be available next game. As such 4 of us agreed to do a Pit Fight for the Fighting Pits so that he wouldn't have to play a game and bottle straight away to get his fighters out of recovery.

Zarggglebarbeljarg
I somehow became enemy number 1 in the pit fight with everyone running at poor Zarggglebarbeljarg. Thanks to fearsome the first 2 charges whiffed. I attempted a charge and rolled a 1 on the charge dice. I was 2 inches out, it was declared a failed charge, it wasn't until other people had started their turns that I realised I had a weapon with reach and 2 inches was actually fine but it was too late, people had moved on. I got charged and chopped into bloody pieces. 64 on my injury roll meant he was about to die but 40cr at the doctors later and he had spinal injury or did for the moment before I rolled a 6 for the chance to mutate. Now my horror has a -1 to being hit but cant wear armour. I'm okay with this as I don't think he should have been wearing armour anyway really. I thought about trying to make another short story out of that match as that is my aim to give life to the campaign and my gang but there really wasnt enough to go on and I still cant get over how bad I am at remembering my rules. I will instead treat that as a training exercise and make more of an effort to remember what all my little keywords do.

My Crew at the end of Week 2.
Charming, Vornes newest pet is yet to be previewed.

As seen I have also started making some scratch built terrain for my own sump city. As well as piece I got for a dollar off one of the club members whos wife wanted it gone. Such a vivid green I thought it would make well as my Sump City Radio tower. For those that don't know there is a new Podcast called Sump City Radio, its a Necromunda podcast with a mixture of the hosts discussing the game and the hobby itself and treating the podcast as if it was actually a vox channel in the hive, with weather reports and sports correspondents at the fighting pits. Its worth the listen though I personally had to skip the cooking show as it got a bit to vivid for me. Its things like this that really help bring life to the game and setting especially when the letters to the radio they are receiving do actually seem to set in game as well, messages from other Hives and how their gangs are prospering or not.

Sadly didn't come with the Minis

Anyway more games to come, hopefully I win a territory before we move to the next stage. Also of note I am starting a campaign to free the flamer. It has been house ruled that much like grenades anything with the blaze trait automatically fails its ammo check, the difference from grenades is that they can be reloaded. I didn't understand the reasoning myself. They are very very expensive items, 195crs for a one use turret in the Heavy Flamer. Maybe once I roll high enough on the trading post and get suspensors the heavy flamer might be better, damm outlaw status making that a slightly difficult item to get. The main complaint actually seemed to be about how powerful templates were for pinning people and the Arbitrators gang and a few others stocked up on combat shotguns for that exact reason... No point crying about it though and maybe I will get the chance to set several people on fire and see why such a heavy handed rule has been put in place.

P.S. I saw that someone had printed and painted the objective markers and it makes me happy to see that I am not the only one using them. Much better painted than mine as well.

Objective Markers Round 2 - Freebooters and Pointy Eared Gits

Here are the two latest additions to my Objective Marker 3D remixes. I don't have the skills to develop such things in any proper 3D sculpting software so like any good Ork Mek I loot the designs and shove some numbers on it. (Okay there is a little bit more to the process but that is the gist of it).

First of all for the Space Aelf army that I began but then stopped immediately we have the dimensional gateways. Seeing all the beautifully painted Aeldari armies at tournaments and really liking the play style I was so tempted to start one. I managed to get one of the old start collecting sets and traded out the bikers for some rangers with someone on facebook. Leading the army would be an Autarch with Reaper Cannon aka Amalyn with upgraded Rifle.

Now with more ZZAAHPP!

However after my initial attempts using masking tape and spray paints to get the base colours down on my Fire Prism I found that my cheap choice of masking tape and poor application had left bits where the the spray paint had mixed with the masking tape glue leaving horrible marks, not only that but some of the masking tape had stuck and left marks on the energy crystal. Dismayed it was left to rot in my WIP bucket. Thankfully the Legends release has put an end to my ideas for a Aeldari army by removing my HQ choice and that special edition Bone Singer I bought. I think I might still finish the 500pts or so that I have bought eventually for some fun skirmish games but not sure how I want paint the infantry as that colour scheme might not transition well.

Nowhere near the pretty Aeldari I have seen.

The other objective markers are Treasure Chests, these were designed with my local gaming club the Miramar Freebooters in mind, I might get a set printed to give away when we next hold a 40k tournament.

Thanks to the club for posting this image every month to help motivate me/feel guilty about painting.

Last but not least I have updated the Tryanids and Necrons Objective Markers on Thingiverse with files for each individual objective marker. This was done based on requests on social media months ago from people who wanted to get each individual marker as their 3D printers didnt have space for all 6. Which makes total sense as when I printed them I did them 4 at a time cause 6 wouldn't fit on the printer I had access too... Sorry for the delayed response there for an issue I had before I even upload the files for the public...

And sorry to the creators of their original designs, when I last uploaded them I didn't have the remix showing correctly and you were only mentioned in the comments/description. I have now put the remix link in correctly.

Anyway here are all the links for the new and updated objectives:

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3155901 - Nids Objectives

I feel like I should add a disclaimer here that I haven't actually had a chance to print the Gates or the Chests yet myself as the public printer I used to use has been stopped.

A Howling Good Holiday

I didn't achieve to much over the holidays, I managed to paint one model. This is the other Space Marine character that wasn't picked for the Wrath and Glory Campaign. He wears his Chapter Symbol on the Right Shoulder as much like the Death Watch his new allegiance is worn of the left shoulder, in this case the Oath he made to Inquisitor Victoria.

He is inspired by the below artwork, when sourcing the bits I was frustrated that I couldn't find a shoulder pad with both the Edge and the Studs like in the image. However its not an exact replica and I dont think my model conveys the same menacing stride either.

My partner replace her phone during the Boxing day sales (I hate the very concept of this, Christmas is commercialized enough, this day should be for time with Family not dragging people out for more sales) and it has a great camera (well compared to mine at least) and I hate it. It shows me all my brush strokes so much clearer than I can see and while the model looks fine to the naked eye I can see all of my mistakes in the photos so easily.

Overall I am pretty happy with both of my Primaris - True Scale Marine conversions. Though both still have hints of primaris as there as some parts of the design that I still like. I quite enjoyed making these and think I will make more. The idea of having a mini collection of Space Marine characters from different chapters is quite appealing.

The most of what I did with my spare time was re-read Tower of God. Season 3 is great and I needed a refresher of whats happening as I have been reading it in drips for so long.

         The "Main' Characters

As hyped as ever, this is the last remaining Comic/Manga that I read anymore. Unlike other Mangas in the action/adventure genre it has a story line that continues to develop. One of the characters Khun Ran is used as my avatar image on most sites, if only I could get such blue grey hair in real life.

Eating his Lightning Pill

Despite it going on for so long the story line has been great so far, and despite the first Season not having the best art work the story was gripping enough to keep my interest and you can see how the writer has improved in that respect over time.

Baylord Doom the Evil Cute Puppy Boy

So special thanks to Slave Inutero (The Authors Nickname) for making Mondays something to look forward too.

Also I have started making some Eldar and Pirate themed Objective Makers using some files I found on Thingiverse (Thanks and respect to whoever designed the originals, I will try to link you when I upload the final versions to Thingiverse).

On a side note I have made a discord server (which is currently empty) but if anyone wants to chat or discuss stuff hobby related or not come join.

Objective Markers - Links to Download included.

First of All I thought I would start with a sorry for no Day 2 report. Sadly I got Down With The Sickness shortly after my tournament and ended up having paramedics called to my house when I couldn't breathe and felt paralyzed the weekend before last (Thank you very Much to Wellington Free Ambulance). So I will do a quick conclusion. Somehow I managed to win all my games on Day 2 and did end up getting the Best in race Trophy (I had a massive headache and felt exhausted from overthinking). However one thing I felt great about was that in all 5 games where we used objectives my opponents were impressed by my Objective Markers and wanted them to be used as our objectives.

They came out of the 3D printer looking really grainy and I knew from seeing someone elses painted results that I would need to do something about this to make them look good. With only one day before the tournament I came up with a plan. So much to any Duncan fans horror I went and got some thick Acrylic Paint and did not thin it down all. I went to town with a few layers of that and actually need to get the hair dryer out so it dried in time. Needless to say I am happy with the results it did make some parts of the model vary slightly from objective to objective but that also adds a bit of natural variety.

As such I thought I would share them with the world. I posted them on thingyverse a few days ago and within 4 days they have had 98 downloads which I am personally impressed with. Compared to my Ork Objective Markers which have had 27 downloads in 2 months. What Ork doesn't need more Tires, Every Mek always needs MOAR wheels.

I also just posted my Necron Objective Markers (Made for the MonkeyChukka as a surprise), he was kind enough to actually use them. These are all available for anyone to download and print themselves in the below links.

Tyranid Objective Markers here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3155901
Ork Objective Markers here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2806836
Necron Objective Markers here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3163123

These were all designed to be printed on a very low quality 3D printer so they are quite large to ensure the details come out, I personally like this as it makes the Numbers easy to read while playing as well.

As I thoroughly enjoy making them and I feel like everyone needs good objective Marker I will be looking to add Objective Markers for other factions in the future as well. Next in line will probably be Eldar as I have an idea for Mini Webway Gates if i can get it to work.
