Farewell Wellywood and Welcome on the Big Birthday Bonanza

So I was one the Campaign Arbitrators on the Last local campaign. This wrapped up last week. It was great fun but also a lot to manage with Weekly oversight needed from me and Selby. Its like being a player and a DM in DND. Good thing there are two of us able to keep each other in check and Daimon as a tiebreaker who chips in occasionally.

Please feel free to download the Campaign Document here.

The final scenario was a 6 player multi with everyone who had bought a ticket to the game. In short Sean slowly walked around a 4x4 board with his 4" movement Goliaths and eventually after 5 hours was the last one standing as the final attacker blew themselves up with an overcharged plasma pistol.

Pink Stars = Loot Boxes, Green Bars = Locked Doors
Orange Stars = Sentry Servitors

The scenario can be found here and I have posted a map of the layout above. You can see Wellywoods short overview below with highlights such as seeing me standing about or watching me drop a template on someone elses models (I hate myself for things like this, at least they were not painted so not too guilty).

Daimon who runs Wellywood is leaving the country so that was the last campaign I will be apart of on the channel (unless he comes back to Wellington...) before he left he did an Interview with me and Selby, of which I hate because he didn't tell me my hair was a mess for the entire video...

I may do a skirmish video with him for one last piece of content before he leaves but I am not sure.

Onto the next big thing I am doing a special game of Necromunda for my Birthday. I have roped in some friends and will be doing a 4 player multi. We will be doing Border Dispute but in an effort to reduce set up/packdown, how much I am transporting etc I will be using my Tenfold Dungeon to create a zone mortalis style complex. I will also transport the minis in the Tenfold Boxes. The layout for the game has been settled on, with a nice long map and with gangs starting next to each other but due to the doors will find it easier to attack the player on the opposite side of the board.

I do love making maps.

Here are the Gang Relics, Aim of the Game to keep your relic safe and defile all the opposing gangs relics.

Protect the Precious

3 of the Gangs are ready to go and Necromunda is great for bringing in that RPG part with the narrative aspects so I have given each of the painted gangs a short backstory. Lets hope I can paint the 8 models needed for the last gang in a week, until then they will hide away in secret.

Janus Draik now a rebel lord on the run from the law for his political heresy. Down in the underhive he carves a out a new place to rule aided by his seer, ex house staff and some hired guns. Dragging around his most prized possession: a statue of a Howling Griffons space marine.

'Hyli ⭐' - A gang of skilled tech savvy members of house Van Saar. They honour a hero of ancient terra past. Fitted with tech from the lost ages or experimental new research some few even willing to upgrade themselves. Lead by Glasear who aims to one day eat a fruit from his precious tree, a pleasure few in the hive would ever hope to experience.

The Death Lotus clan is lead by the charismatic Jhor'dan. Able to call upon the gods for inhuman strength and aided by dark powers from Auriok the psyker he and his followers shall take the area. Having planted their flag to stake their claim.

Maps Galore

Andrea was waiting atop the radio tower for the contact as instructed. Glasear had mentioned there was a house request to fulfill during the surgery and this would be the meeting point. Andrea shivered though not because of the cold but the loneliness. This lone tower was separated heavily from the nearest walls and scaffolding that covered most floors. The emptiness was unnerving, honestly she would rather be crawling through a pipe.

The garage wasn't available at last minute so we popped into Cerberus games who kindly let us use a table free of charge. Box terrain for a makeshift map.

The minutes passed as she wondered if she was in the right spot. Maybe she was a fool for climbing the whole tower and the messenger was down below at the base. As she peered over the edge she could a light moving below. As it neared she could see it was not one glowing light but many smaller red lights combined. The contact was not a human but something else that would have no problem climbing to a such a height. One of house Van Saar's arachnids climbed towards her.

A fun conversion will get a proper paint job later.

Unlike Milky the crews current pet arachnid this one was jet black with red markings on its back. It climbed up the antennae next to her before dropping back down on its silk exposing its inner thorax to her where a small black box was located. As she held her verification bracelet to it she shivered once more praying to the machine spirit for an error would mean death.

The Underdog Tactics card I got...

With a green flash and a click the box slid open and Andrea wasted no time in retrieving the purse of credits and bundled data slate.

The Promethium cache had been overrun with men with Bestial heads all lead by a Lizard Man. These were certainly abhumans and abhumans at their worst, shouting heathen request to callous gods.

The 2017 Official Tunnel Tiles. Black sections with red lines are walls. No longer in production...

As she sent off her report to the Main House she received a message on her pager from Glasear. They were going to go try out their new eyes hunting smugglers, the location was tagged. What a wonderful invite.

The Gun Runners

------------

Well I lost the promethium cache, and then decided to go assault another gangs territory. Following his surgery I got to try out pitch black fighting with cyborg infrared vision eyes on my leader and Jojo. While this turned out to be great turn 1. I still lost as I got out activated on a very small map (not to mention forgetting about overseer on the leader ðŸ¤®)

The Campaign Map heading into week 7 of the 8 week campaign.

As we head into the final 2 weeks I am actually 3rd place and have chance of making it to the Final.
The two gangs with the most territories after 8 weeks duke it out for overall supremacy. Reputation is the tie breaker and I have terrible rep so I will need to make sure I win my next few games.

15mins to set up is much quicker than 2 hours.

It wasn't the only hobby fun to be had though. Me and the Lad set up the Terrain and played games and toy soldiers over the weekend. Starting with taking the Tenfold dungeon set and trying to come up with fun 3D set up that can be done quickly.

He barricaded off the entry to his base

This wasn't to bad and the bridges were more stable than I had expected.

I need more Metro Morph expansions...

Next up we brought out the Metro Morph terrain and worked out that 1.5 Metro Morph floors was equal to one Large and one Medium Tenfold box. Well almost, I had to put the Large box on plastic supports (that come with the tenfold stuff) and put the medium boxes together.

Can't wait to play a real game on this

From there we went onto build what we both thought was an amazing Multistory city. I only have a few things that go to 1.5 floors with the metro morph stuff as it only comes in the Heights Expansion box.

Set for a Photogenic battle scene

Line Deployment

I have been on a big terrain buzz as honestly each map brings its own way to play. I went and found some files that could be used to create a zone mortalis board similar to the official terrain.

The table in store looks great visually but its so flat gameplay wise might as well be card tiles.

Now honestly aside from a few peoples works most of what I see made with the official terrain sucks but the aesthetic is still great.

A cheap way to play with expensive toys.

At first I did a rough mock up of what a full size tile could look like, keeping in mind that it would probably need to be 6 - 16 full sized tiles for a gaming table.

Just imagine another one mirrored on every side

Realising that this would never print and wasn't properly fitted I started over with a smaller quarter tile. This time getting all my measurements in place. And including a base tile with an inbuilt clipper system.

With Link!

Then the kind man at Potbelly Miniatures in Wellington was able to give me a quote on printing it. $65 for one quarter tile. Considering a small table of these tiles would be $1560 it was a bit more than I was willing to pay. I asked would it be different if he printed it hollow and he said maybe on a resin printer but his wasn't big enough. I would also need to redesign the ladder unless it was done in resin and resin would cost more as a material. I guess this project is now being shelfed, for anyone wanting the test file you can find it Here.

The Final Hunt

Numeriel heard word that there were stashes of supplies, resources and information on the beast hidden at a Delaque storage site.

Imagine meeting him on a dark street

Well that hadn't gone as planned but still the Outcasts could be followed and they may just lead her to the beast, she sent most of the crew back to the base, they would be no match for the beast. It was however finally time to send for Perseus.

And well that was that, the Hunt was over. Numeriels wet noodle turned out to be a gun when it was aimed at the final boss but remained a wet noodle for anything else. I never once got exp from Headshot.

Numeriel posing with her prey after the hunt. The Sickly Sea Unicorn of Death

Well after playing Venators for a campaign I felt like they were really strong yet failed to deliver on the Elite band of Bounty Hunters feel. In a few games my opponents got actual bounty hunter due to inducements and the real hunters look so much better on paper. I know they are meant to be that way as they are only hired for a game or 2 in the standard rules but having to keep hiring gangers to get my champs who were close to being bounty hunters. The massive band of old fogeys isn't really the elite tight knit bounty hunters vibe.

I still like the old fogeys but they played alot like old fogeys

I would rewrite the Venators entirely to be honest. they should function as a very unique type of gang. I reckon their "gangers" should be treated like champions and start with a skill and 2 wounds and whats generally considered the champ profile. The leader should go one step further and start with 2 skill (like a bounty hunter you hire). This does mean the leader is the only one who can group activate.

I'm happy with the pose

The cost of a background should automatically be included and you should be able to pick between a house background or xenos or ex military. Doing so gives you the house skill (or palanite drill) as a primary and you pick one other primary as well as access to the house list for weapons and wargear. For xenos its pick 2 Primary, and access to xenos weapons.

Put some paint on my other MDF kit

To cap this all off we don't want a large gang for a tightly knit unit of bounty hunters so we would introduce a rule "Only so many slices of pie" which would impose a limit of 5 Ganger types maximum in the gang. (This makes a maximum gang size of 6). And a rule where they use a D3 when bottling not a D6 as their starting gang size will always be low.

Good Enough

Enough about my rules monologues. Onto the next campaign. I have tried roping in a friend with a lovely demo game. I tried my new gang which is Van Saar.

These hi-tech Van Saar took on the forces of chaos undivided.

And well it was a draw. Most importantly my mate enjoyed the game and it was a close game. He played really well considering.

3 Interconnected Floors, giant chasms and lots of cover

And once again have you ever seen a board game with a better board. That map was great fun.

Amazing boards of every sort

Grinding on Some Blue Meat

I finally finished building and got some paint on my MDF Terrain

Kais woke suddenly. He felt nauseas and the world was spinning. Someone had drugged him! As he went to support himself to get up he realised he was outside and exposed in the underhive. As the fog in his brain cleared he realised just how exposed. He was stark naked, his cold blue abs (and much more) were glistening in the damp air.

"Where the fuck am I" cried out Dave. "Fuck me what the hell is going on" Chimed in Skag.

Stepping round the corner Kais saw he wasn't alone. Not only were his fellow crew members here equally as naked but so were more gangs. The pale cheeks of Delaque just visible in the distance. "Quick we need supplies and to get out of here" called out Kais. Both Dave and Skag cried in unison as the turned to face him "Ohh for the love of the Emperor my eyes!"

Sometimes you got to stop when its useable and come back to it later when the inspiration hits.

----

My lowest 3 have changed as it wasn't lowest rating but lowest rating when naked aka without weapons, gear or armour. Now that we have the set up you watch how it all unfolded below, you can even see me making good use out of my lookout:

Into the Cauldron

Dave

Numeriel had gone into town to meet the new recruits Draik had found. Two of the locals, Skag and Dave. From the description they would be more than suited but it was best to meet them first. As she approached the tavern she noticed how desolate the streets were, only the scurrying of feet off in the distance. Opening the door as the warm air greeted her so did Draik.

Local Recruits

Sitting at the largest table in the middle of the room Draik was not one for discretion. Next to him were two men whom seemed more than happy with the Feast provided. Skag seemed to have no care as his cyborg arm ripped apart another greasy crustacean. Dave seemed more mannered at least, quietly sipping on his beer whilst he waited. Numeriel sat and talked but she dared not eat the food, these Monkeighs were so unclean that surely this food would be poison. The conversations went well however, she felt confident in these men and their skills would be well suited. With that they left back for camp however the streets were not so empty as one man waited for them on the road out of town.

Standing there casually with a bolter at his side, he called out "Heard your looking for some helping hands".

Lyborick

To which she replied "Yes but we have found the workers and have nothing more to pay".

Skag

"Worry not miss for I will help you rid these vermin for free, it would be my pleasure" Lyboric grinned.

------

Well heres the link to latest Battle Report were you can see Dave in action:

Skag was then Hired shortly after. Then seeing as I kept missing out on Juves as Venators cannot get them but was rolling them in the settlement recruitment each week our kind Arbitrators gave me a free Hunter with a random profile. Of course I rolled the worst of the 4 profiles and got a character that is not good at moving, shooting or close combat. Instead they are good with computers... Maybe a helpful stat in modern life but not great in gang warfare. So about came Lyboric, hes another old man with a bad leg and a bolter...

Following that I played a rematch vs Slaanescher, however we weren't at Daimon's so its back to a classic battle report and photos.

------

Numeriel had heard of the genetic monsters created by the covens of the underhive but now to hear one was loose was both a blessing and a nightmare. It was down in the sewer so it might get messy and surely she wouldn't be the only one interest in it.

------

So I was facing Slaaenscher again and we were going to try the Khimerix hunt, winner being whoever kills the beast. With it only appearing when someone rolls an injury dice, the more injury dice rolled in a round the more chance of it appearing.

Well I got priority and took the first shot of the game, wounding a juve with my lascannon who had started in the open, this immediately caused the Khimerix to appear, the khimerix then rolled ones to kill the juve before quickly becoming the focus of everyone. I took some wounds off it but it was the Slaanescher bounty hunter that dealt the blow to remove its last wound and seriously injure it. I thought this would be game over as she could then coup de grace. The game could have lasted half a round but Keira however refrained as the bonus exp would then be wasted on a non-permanent member. All she had to do was get someone else to charge it. This however gave me more chances to shoot it. By the end of the first round it had 4 flesh wounds out of the 5 it could take before dieing. It then rolled recovery, anything but a seriously injured result and the monster would bleed out resulting in a draw. Thankfully we got the beautiful snap result.

This means it came down to priority, she had the members she wanted in charge range so I had to get priority and kill it with my first activation, I wasn't in range to charge but with a lascannon surely it would be easy. Just to be safe I did a group activation with my leader. And well anything but the snap results were now needed.

So with my useless lascannon that still hasn't taken anything out of action wasted I moved onto shooting the new guys bolter.

And with that clean and decisive kill the game was over, I had some winnings and exp but neither of us had lost a member and the game was over after1st activation of the 2nd round, pretty sure I had spent more time unpacking my stuff. At least I was able to level up Sir Jonas and got Munitioneer when rolling on the Savant table. I was happy with that but basically everything on the Savant table is good anyway.

------

The beast was dead but Numeriel had seen the followers of 'She who thirsts' and wasn't going to allow them to escape. She moved to cut them off at the next junction, they wouldn't be leaving these sewers so easily.

------

So we agreed to play another game, a classic tunnel fight to the death. She had more members out of recovery so didn't need the bounty hunter inducements and it would be a closer fight. Worst of all a Death Maiden with a falsehood meaning they could not be targeted for the first 2 rounds of the game.

Seeing as she kept starting with Juves in the open I went to get my Headshot with the lascannon, that once again seems to only seriously injure people..

It turned into a bloody brawl in the open but due to my high toughness and good recovery rolls my hunters kept standing back up. However it came to round 3 and Death Maiden was eyeing up the charge on Numeriel and I needed the first activation to stop it. And well I did get priority and fired my lascannon straight at the Death Maiden, I hit but rolled a 1 to wound. My champion activated but could only deal a single wound with his pistol. Sure with her pinned at least I could live.. but she had spring up and 2+ initiative. So in she charged. I parried the over charged Plasma pistol but it still hit and like that my overly expensive wet noodle was out of the game. Thankfully Darius was able to get the counter charge and the kill but it was going to be a close fight.

Except it wasn't as the dice started to go my way, especially the injury dice with skulls showing up. My squad were raking in the exp and tables quickly turned. Not to mention a juve who tried to charge across the gap and failed the initiative check.
'

After it was all cleaned up, I was able to capture a wounded cultist by the name of "Salaala Serpentbane" and was able to level up 3 of my regular hunters. Sadly Lyboric and Kais both got intelligence upgrades (wooh so good with computers...) but Darius nailed it with a toughness increase so hes now t5.

Not to mention that Draik has finally joined the squad.

Leaders in recovery for the next match but it shouldn't matter as the next round is a special round involving only our lowest value gangers. For me that is Darius, Kais and Dave. I would feel confident but its a 5 way free for all and having the best gang only puts a target on your back.
